Prayer for Shalom

Prayer for Shalom. It doesn’t matter where we look. The earth is reeling.  One description for the time we live in is “dangerous”. Any one of us could add adjectives from our own viewpoint. Yet, if we are Biblically engaged, we keep our eyes on our Savior. Then we will not be tossed to and fro. Also we know the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, the one who gives peace, will open the eyes of our heart and give understanding.  We are Holy Spirit empowered to pray when we don’t know what to pray.We are participating in missions when we pray to see more Jewish people come to salvation in Messiah.

The shalom we pray for is not limited to the absence of war nor the absence of strife.  Shalom means completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, and the absence of agitation or discord.  In modern Hebrew the obviously related word Shelem means to pay for, and Shulam means to be fully paid. The Prince of Peace promises all the qualities of shalom to those who will look to Him.

“You keep in perfect peace one whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in Adonai forever, for the LORD Adonai is a Rock of ages.” Isaiah 26:3–4 TLV

Then you will call on Me, and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me, when you will search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13 TLV
