September Prayer Points – Intercession

Intercession for the Jewish People

A majority of Jewish people are culturally Jewish meaning they may attend a High Holy Day service and observe ritualistic traditions of men. Still, they lack a personal relationship with the Creator. Likewise there are three appointed times for God to meet His people this September as outlined in Leviticus 23:23–27. They are Rosh Hashanah/Head of the Year (7-8th), Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement (16th) and Sukkot/Feast of Tabernacles (20-27th). This month’s High Holy Days are for fasting, repentance and celebration, thanking God because His presence dwells with His people.

“There you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 4:29 ESV

PRAY FOR:

  • A move of the Spirit over the religious strongholds which saturate Jewish society
  • Revelation of the futility of human based efforts to obtain forgiveness of sins
  • Jewish eyes to open to the once-for-all atonement of Messiah Jesus 

Intercession for the Spanish-speaking Believers

Brothers and sisters in Christ within the Spanish-speaking community are sharing stories of discovery of their Jewish heritage. Most importantly there is a growing interest to understand how Christian beliefs intersect with Jewish religious culture. The 1970’s Jesus and Charismatic Movements saw many Jewish young adults seeking truth and finding Messiah Jesus. The door is opening again to Jewish adults seeking truth.

“Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands far away; say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.’” Jeremiah 31:10 ESV

PRAY FOR:

  • The Lord to provide for the needs of the Caribbean Jewish people and their neighbors
  • The Gentile and Messianic believer to experience unity in worship and service to the Lord
  • Messianic believers to be involved in solid discipleship studies
  • The Lord to be the shepherd of His people during persecution from despotic governments

Intercession for Israel

The rate of infection increases in spite of precautionary actions by the Israeli health ministry. There is probably no other nation with more detailed medical records involving the virus. The fear, frustration, and economic impact are causing more problems and mistrust. This is in addition to the new government finding its way to function in unity and increasing regional struggles with security threats.

“My word that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 ESV

PRAY FOR:

  • Wisdom for scientists to successfully develop protocols against the virus
  • The Lord to protect Israel
  • The military to remain alert, prepared and fearless; may the Lord go before them and be their rear guard
  • The Lord to guide the Israeli leaders in their private lives and as they govern the nation
  • The Lord to provide for the needs of all people living in the land of Israel

Intercession for Jacob’s Hope

  • Healing and strength for our missionaries
  • Spirit empowerment for Jewish evangelism
  • Divine connections for future ministry opportunities
  • Traveling mercies for our missionaries going to El Salvador and Mexico this month
