Shavuot, the God-commanded observance runs from sunset June 11 until nightfall on June 13. Shavuot began as an ancient grain harvest festival, but since biblical times it is the remembrance of the giving of the Torah (first five books of the Hebrew Bible) on Mount Sinai. These books are instructions, teachings, and law given from God to the Hebrews on how to live in relationship with God and others. The people were commanded to visit the Temple. Since its destruction, people attend observances in the synagogue. These God-ordained times of remembrance continue for all time, even as the battle rages between civilization and barbarism. As they observe Shavuot, may the people awaken to the truth of the instructions, turn from idols, and humble themselves before the Almighty.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 TLV
PRAY FOR:
- The people to praise the Lord for calling them out of darkness into His marvelous light
- Wisdom, unity and divine guidance to act according to God’s will and to stand in unity against internal and external pressures
- Soldiers to be brave with God’s help
- The hostages to receive hope, comfort and strength from God as they wait for release
- The peace of Jerusalem
Pray for Ethiopia and all of Africa
Ethiopia is just one of many nations experiencing draught, food shortages, and internal terrorism. Across the continent hundreds of thousands have lost their lives, in addition to, the loss of homes, schools, churches, and livestock. Ethiopia is home to a large Jewish population which is the reason our ministry serves there.
PRAY FOR:
- God to awaken leaders and provide a way of escape from evil for their nation
- Spiritual awakening across the continent
- Unity among believers and between congregations
Pray for Jacob’s Hope
PRAY FOR:
- Traveling mercies, flight schedules and connections to be on time
- Meetings and ministry in Israel
- Theological classes at Addis Bible College, Ethiopia
- The National Jewish Fellowship (of the Assemblies of God) Retreat, June 27-29, Springfield, Missouri
- Spirit-empowered ministry
