New Israeli Government Jan. 2023 Prayer Points

-Prayer for the New Israeli Government-

The new Israeli government is meeting resistance with many demands and criticisms coming from outside Israel and not just its citizens. The Knesset leaders (Israel’s parliament) have a full plate of controversial issues awaiting their attention.  Just a few issues are protection of individual rights, reforming the judicial system, and national security. Any intentions to improve the infrastructure, employment and economy in the West Bank will definitely increase global outcry. There are some leaders holding tightly to Jewish Law and law can only do so much to give security to a nation. True security, lasting peace comes from a change of heart, salvation in Messiah.

You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”

Deuteronomy 16:19-20 ESV

PRAY FOR ISRAELI GOVERNMENT:

  • The Knesset leaders to humble themselves and seek God’s wisdom
  • The Lord to unify the new government for stability and effectiveness
  • The leaders to do what is best for the nation and not to satisfy their own agenda
  • The leaders to have protection from manipulation and deception; deafen their ears to demands from outside of Israel
  • The new government to not set laws in opposition to or restricting freedoms of those following Messiah
  • Security forces to stop any terror attacks

PRAY FOR THOSE FOLLOWING JEWISH LAW

In general within Judaism, what you do is often more important than what you believe. Upon awaking in the morning until lying down to sleep, the Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) person’s life is filled with rote prayer, rituals, and regulations. The regulations are known as mitzvot, good deeds that please God. Many mitzvot come from biblical laws, but the ultra-Orthodox have added numerous additional regulations over the years in an effort to pursue godly, set-apart lives. The outward appearance, following the tiniest detail of a regulation, is more important than the condition of the heart.

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

PRAY FOR THE HAREDI:

  • The ultra-Orthodox to have a heart’s desire to obey God and not simply an outward appearance of obedience
  • The ultra-Orthodox to know God loves them and that salvation comes through what Jesus has done for them, not through mitzvot, good deeds
