February 2022 Prayer Points – Peace for Jerusalem

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

We pray for the peace of Jerusalem so our mind is on the things that concern God. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem so we may have shalom. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem because we know the Lord’s eyes are always open and his ears always attentive to our prayers.

Many Jewish people live in the far corners of this world away from the forefront of news cycles. They remain a target of antisemitism. We are often unaware of exact needs but we know God is calling his people to return to the Land. Israel is preparing to receive thousands of Jewish Ukrainian refugees and those who want to make aliyah from other nations. Hope is found in Messiah and the Lord more frequently reveals himself to the Jewish people. We can trust the Holy Spirit to bring to mind those places and people who need prayer.

A spirit of hopelessness permeates the globe. We make the choice to remember our hope lies not in the powers of this world but in the One enthroned in heaven. “…focus your thoughts on what is true, noble, righteous, pure, lovable or admirable, on some virtue or on something praiseworthy.  Keep doing what you have learned and received from me, what you have heard and seen me doing; then the God who gives shalom will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9 CJB

“Shalom” means more than peace. Shalom is completeness, wholeness, health, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, and the absence of agitation or discord ─ peace.

Psalm 122:6 TLV   “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem— “May those who love you be at peace!

Jonah 3:10 TLV  “When God saw their deeds—that they turned from their wicked ways—God relented from the calamity that He said He would do to them, and did not do it.”
