Nations – December 2019 – Pray for the Nations
Pray for the Nations
Nations are treated by God in relation to their treatment of Israel, as well as their tolerance and promotion of sin in their lands. The people suffer horribly in those nations whose god is not I AM.
“There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land; there is swearing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it languish,” Hosea 4:2-3a ESV
PRAYER: Lord, be merciful to the suffering populations whose leaders are deceived. We pray for leaders ignorant of your plans for Israel to have their eyes opened. Give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. Heal their lands. Protect leaders and governments who align with Israel.
Pray for the Jewish Children
The Festival of Lights, Hanukkah, is Dec 22-30. The celebration revolves around food, family, special blessings, songs, and lighting the Hanukkah menorah candles on each of the eight nights. It is a rabbinical holiday, not commanded by the Lord, but according to John 10:22, 23 Yeshua attended this celebration commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. When the families gather, there will be children who may be experiencing consequences of anti-Semitism. With the enormous increase of general animosity and violence toward the Jewish people, the trauma steals one’s childhood. A few of the consequences of trauma are fear, stress, depression, insecurity.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 CJB
PRAYER: Lord, let the children come to you. Protect the children as a mother hen covers her chicks. We pray the menorah lights will remind the Jewish children of your love. Pray that the Hanukkah story will reinforce your faithfulness to the people and desire for relationship. Also pray for the salvation of the Jewish children. We pray you will heal them from their pain and sorrow.
Prayer for Israel
Israel is still at an election deadlock with no functioning government. Netanyahu has three separate criminal charges against him. He will continue to lead according to the law and will only step down if convicted. If the Knesset cannot form a new government by December 11, a third election will be called. Adding to any insecurity people may be feeling from the unstable government, joint war maneuvers between Iran, Russia and China will be held in the northern Indian Ocean from December 22 to January 20.
“I counsel that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for all human beings, including kings and all in positions of prominence; so that we may lead quiet and peaceful lives, being godly and upright in everything.” 1Timothy 2:1-2 CJB
PRAYER: Father, we pray for you to bring about the outcome you desire for the Israeli government. Guard the hearts of the leaders to be godly and upright in everything they do. Then not just the leaders, but the country too, will lead quiet and peaceful lives. Do not let the plans of the enemy take advantage of Israel during this unsettled period in the nation’s history. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem that it will be secure.
