“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem”     Psalm 122:6a

January 2018 Prayer Points

  1. Pray for Israeli society

January – Pray Israeli society will survive as the people remain united in support of the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). Bind any plot intended to divide the citizens to have no influence. Pray all young adults will see their responsibility to serve and realize the importance of each military position. Also that the IDF will continue to gain enlistees from all nationalities who have a strong desire to integrate into and support Israeli society. Pray military subordinates are in alignment with their officers and government leaders.

God is the protector of His people. Yet, a unified military is important to the State of Israel. The military in its 70 years of existence. The IDF has never experienced public rejection, condemnation or humiliation. Until recently with awareness of some differences.

Sixty college students, who refused to enlist in the IDF, signed a petition accusing the army of violating basic human rights. Furthermore the students applied one law to Israelis and another to the Palestinians in the same area. IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot told the students they should serve as it’s a mutual responsibility. All those who grow up in the State of Israel should serve. Defending the country is an important commitment. Also he  suggested the students can become activists after their service. Soldiers are taught they are obligated to follow orders, unless they are blatantly illegal. Eisenkot considers insubordination of any kind a challenge to everything that unifies Israel as a society.

Another Threat

Another threat to widespread support of the military is a dislike toward Orthodox Jews holding government positions. Orthodox children are exempt from military service. An outcry is rising from the general public to resolve this disparity. The exemption for one segment of society while exposing the other segment to dangerous circumstances produces division.

Israel has accommodated millions of Jewish immigrants and refugees from all over the world. The IDF claims it uses the same conditions and rights for all.  Military service is performed by people from all social, economic, political backgrounds and nationalities performing military service side by side. This includes some immigrants from India, Ethiopia, the United States, Arab, Jewish and Christian Israeli citizens. Israel’s first Prime Minister and Defense Minister David Ben Gurion used to say “the IDF is not only an instrument of defending the country, but also a process of integrating and building Israeli society.”

“And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot survive.”   Mark 3:24

“On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be less important turn out to be all the more necessary.”   1 Corinthians 12:22a

“Everyone is to obey the governing authorities. For there is no authority that is not from God, and the existing authorities have been placed where they are by God.”   Romans 13:1

2. Prayer requests for Jacob’s Hope – January

  • The daughter of one of our missionaries needs healing
  • Also for our missionaries to successfully prepare for each upcoming overseas assignment: teaching a course in a Bible college, coaching for business development, messages to congregations and studying foreign languages

“If you will earnestly seek God and plead for Shaddai’s favor, if you are pure and upright; then he will rouse himself for you and fulfill your needs. Then, although your beginnings were small, your future will be very great indeed.”  Job 8:5-7

Note:

Furthermore In December several Jacob’s Hope missionaries were in Israel to discuss future plans for cooperative partnerships with Messianic congregations. Also we were privileged to intercede for Israel along the borders of Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. Out team met with significant Jews who educated us on the military and government, Judaism, and culture. The team had opportunities to pray in the name of Jesus (Yeshua) for Jewish people. We planted and watered seeds, witnessed a salvation and healings. We expect a harvest!  Previously we requested prayer for those traveling to Israel. As we were there at the time President Trump announced recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, we also witnessed God’s peace and none of the episodes of rage reported on international news. Furthermore we want thank you for praying and God for answering prayers.

“We thank you, God, we thank you–your Name is our favorite word; your mighty works are all we talk about.”      Psalms 75:1   The Message

Also allow us to partner with you to pray for your needs. It is our privilege.
