Shavuot – The Feast of Weeks – Pentecost

The Meaning

First of all names were very important in the ancient Jewish world. In addition they usually reflected the significant character, history, or meaning of that to which they were attached. Hence three separate names were used by the Hebrew Scriptures for the feast of Shavuot. (Heb. “weeks“). Furthermore each name emphasized a different facet of its observance.
